☽ '#' Long Version (Piano Impromptu)
A story ~ '#' Long Version
It wasn't long before the last raindrop fell onto the sidewalk, softer than the blink of an eye. As you're holding your red umbrella with a tight fist, you peer down on the asphalt that reflects your visage on its black, glossy surface.
"What am I going to do now?" You say, realizing that the sky had dried up its tears.
It felt like the only thing you knew how to do; just holding up that umbrella for what seemed like eternity. Ironically, after all that time, you still never considered that someday this rain would end. Peering up at the sky, you see the swirling maelstrom of clouds with peekaboos of sunlight speckled between them. Your eyes trace down to the path that had been revealed as a result of this. It is long and narrow, carving its way through the grass like a frozen river in winter.
What are you going to do now? Daylight is removing its veil of solitude and you’re not sure your eyes are ready for such a thing. Like a shifter adrift in these changing winds, you flutter back between two choices: should you take an unknown step forward or retreat back to the familiarity of where you came from?
And what about that shield you wearily grasp in your fist at this moment, what will happen when you let it go? There’s no need to conceal oneself under a shelter, if there’s no storm left to hide from. Honestly, if there's anything more frightening than being on the verge of suffering, it's being faced with a choice that leaves your vulnerability naked in the elements.
Suddenly, a figure appears at the periphery of your eye and you glance back to meet it.
You realize you've grown a lot since your childhood, but the distance between you and your past self has never changed. They always appear when you are at the helm of uncertainty but, not to comfort you. While their irises are the same shade as yours, the expression they paint is almost alienating.
Even if you stretch your hand back as far as you could, you’d never be able to console them. The chances of you getting to know them have become thinner than ever before, especially if you start to move on now.
A thought crosses your mind that one day, you'd be able to come back for them. Perhaps, this path you'll walk on is a circle that has no beginning nor end. Life sometimes makes one return back to where they came from to see how much they've grown.
Not realizing how long you've been holding onto your umbrella, you finally lay it down. The figure you once recognized breaks eye contact, and gazes away in the distance. And with a hint of regret inching at you, you reciprocate this action. Knowing how stubborn you always couldn’t help but be, it just seemed like the right time to do what a stubborn human should. Embrace a change in course to whatever destination this new path may lead.

While listening to this song:
You could look at.....how the sunlight reflects light and creates shadow simultaneously on any object.
You could be with.....yourself.
You could do something.....like look back on old photos. Something that helps you reflect on how much you've grown since your childhood.
You could eat or drink.....a warm bowl of soup. I recommend Carbonara instant ramen from Samyang or your mom's homemade soup.
You could remember that.....it's okay to be scared of the path you walk on. It's not something you should blame yourself for because uncertainty is a big beast for anyone and everyone. You are only human.
